Creative Writing Workshops for Teachers

Award winning author/illustrator Mark Wilson will present a unique educational experience for teachers of creative writing, where they will learn easy exercises designed to get those creative juices flowing in students including:

  • where those great ideas come from
  • family history – stories of us
  • the writing process – find your own voice
  • dialogue – keeping it simple
  • how to build believable characters
  • settings – what’s behind the door?
  • planning – storyboards & finding the rhythm
  • simple illustration tricks

These ideas will be explored in a hands-on workshop where Mark will take participants through easy exercises that teachers can use with students of all ages.

Mark will introduce participants to his writing process through his award winning books including Eureka! A Story of the Goldfields, A New Prayer for the Animals, Migaloo, Flapper VC, Votes for Women, My Mother’s Eyes, Caroline and  a brand new edition of  The Last Tree.

Mark and Bernadette will also provide a unique experience in the Dromkeen Gallery, where they will take participants on a guided tour to view original illustrations from many of Mark and other Australian illustrators original illustrations.
